About Santi Font..

Santi Font is a highly respected scent detection trainer with nearly 20 years of experience in canine scentwork. Now based in Gran Canaria, Santi lives with his family and two much-loved local rescue dogs, Nix and and Duna.

Santi’s scent detection journey began in 2005 with a Search and Rescue team in Spain, working alongside his Labrador. In 2010, he moved to England to deepen his understanding of dog behaviour and soon began offering training sessions. By 2016, he was contributing to seminars and courses on detection dogs, building his reputation as a knowledgeable and skilled trainer. In 2018, Santi adopted Duna, a Springador, and trained her extensively. Together, they led workshops across the UK and Europe, sharing his expertise with dog trainers and handlers. In 2020, he successfully trained Duna to detect mobile phones in a Gran Canaria prison, achieving impressive results.

By 2024, Santi was training dogs for a conservation project, further demonstrating the incredible versatility of the canine nose. Now, he offers online coaching  and workshops to trainers worldwide, sharing his passion for scentwork and conservation with a global audience.

MORE INFORMATION..

Day 1 focuses on learning theory and the mechanics of Scentwork, with no practical dog training activities. However, if you’ve travelled a significant distance to attend the workshop, you are welcome to bring your dog to the training barn. Please ensure your dog is comfortable settling for extended periods and bring a cosy bed or mat for them to rest on.

Unfortunately, this workshop may not be the best environment for your dog. With eight handler teams, a new and potentially overwhelming setting, and the extended duration of Day 2's full day of dog training, it could be quite challenging for a nervous dog. We recommend considering workshops or training sessions tailored to more individual or small-group settings to ensure your dog feels comfortable and has the best experience.

Absolutely! This workshop is perfect for beginners. We will focus on engaging and motivating your dog in Scentwork through a variety of fun and specialised activities. Our goal is to ensure that dogs of all experience levels can enjoy and flourish in the exciting world of Scent Detection.
